Mare Mikoff is the grand old lady of Estonian contemporary sculpture. I was asked to curate her retrospective exhibition at Tartu Art Museum in summer 2016. The exhibition was accompanied by a bilingual Estonian/English catalogue with texts by Reet Varblane, Rael Artel, Gregor Taul and Vladimir Frolov. Photos by Hedi Jaansoo. Mare Mikoffi ülevaatenäitusega “Mikoff. Skulptuurid” kaaseb kuraator Gregor Tauli koostatud 240-leheküljeline eesti- ja ingliskeelne kataloog, mis annab täieliku ülevaate Mikoffi loomingust aastatel 1971–2016. Kunstniku elu- ja loominguteed lahkab põhjalikus analüüsis kunstiajaloolane Reet Varblane. Peterburi arhitektuuriajaloolane ja -kriitik Vladimir Frolovi essee uurib Mikoffi loomingu taustal realismi avaldumise erinevaid vorme sotsialistlikus ja postsotsialistlikus kunstis. Gregor Tauli essee kõneleb skulptuurikunsti spetsiifikast – erinevalt näiteks maalikunstist on skulptuur olnud ajalooliselt rohkem seotud avaliku ruumi, arhitektuuri ja poliitikaga. Trükise lõpetab Tauli ja Mikoffi intervjuu kunstniku loometeest.
