EKKÜ aastakonverents – Gregor Taul

I was extremely honoured to be asked to organise and moderate the 2017 annual conference of the Association of Estonian Art Historians and Curators with the theme Percentage Art: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow . I also gave a talk on the commissioning of public artworks in Soviet Estonia.

Aastakonverents 2017

21. detsembril Tartus Rahvusarhiivi Noora majas toimunud aastakonverentsi eesmärk oli kokku tuua EKKÜ liikmed ja teised kunstihuvilised, et arutleda kunstiteose tellimise seadusest lähtuvalt tellimuskunsti teemadel. Ka konverentsi toimumiskohaks valitud Noora majas avati 2017 kaks põnevat nn protsendikunstiteost: Kiwa ja Martin Kikase heliinstallatsioon fuajees ja Fred Kotka ja Carmen Lansbergi fassaadikangas.

Kuus aastat tagasi jõustunud kunstiteose tellimise seaduse raames on tänaseks valminud ligi poolsada teost, mille kogumaksumus ulatub 1,5 miljoni euroni. Esimese “viisaastaku” järel on paslik teha esimesi järeldusi selle kohta, kuidas seadus on Eesti kunstikultuuri mõjutanud ja kuidas see asetub kunstiajaloo taustale. Konverentsil küsiti provotseerivalt: kui palju maailma kunsti(ajaloo)st ei ole tellimuskunst? Selle valguses diskuteeriti Eesti protsendikunsti ja teiste tähelepanuväärsemate avalikku ruumi tellitud kunstiprojektide üle (linnainstallatsioonide festival Lift11, tänavakunstifestivalid erinevates Eesti linnades, pilootprojekt EV100 Hea avalik ruum jms.).

Konverentsi juhtis kunstiteadlane Gregor Taul. Kavas oli kolm paneeli: tellimuskunst ajaloos ja täna (modereeris Linda Kaljundi), tellimuskunst ja teised avaliku ruumi rikastamise projektid (modereeris Gregor Taul) ning kunstiteose tellimise seadus ehk protsendikunst (modereeris Andreas Trossek). Ettekannetega esinesid Krista Kodres, Mart Kalm, Gregor Taul, Karin Bachmann, Ingrid Ruudi, Karin Paulus, Kadi-Ell Tähiste jt. Joonekohtuniku rollis oli Indrek Grigor.
